Sirena began studying belly dance in 2005 with Urban Gypsy, and
danced as a member of Gypsy Sister until spring 2007. She studies with
prominent teachers around the country attending workshops
and intensives to enhance technique and expand fluidity of
movement, including: Yasmine, Sharon Kihara, Zoe Jakes of
Belly Dance Superstars, Zafira Dance Company, Judeen, Aziza,
Gypsy Caravan, Frederique and Tempest. Locally she studies Tribal Fusion with
her dance sister Silvia Salamanca, attending classes as well as private
lessons and studies Flamenco at DANMAR Studio. She has been
a guest soloist of Gypsy Dance Theater at the Texas
Renaissance Festival and Shunyata Belly Dance and has
performed at various venues around the country as well as
locally.
Sirena has many years of theatrical, musical and directorial
experience as well as an extensive Highland and Celtic dance
background. She has held leading roles in productions
including "Annie Get Your Gun", "The Sound of
Music" and "My Fair Lady" as well as
directing choirs and musical dramas for the past twenty
years.
She
loves the timelessness of the dance and the empowerment it
brings to women, regardless of age or physical condition.
