Dania,
whose dance name means “close to the heart”, has been
dedicated to the art of bellydance for almost a decade. In
1998, her training began in folkloric dance under the
instruction of Asia and Aida Al-Adawi of San Fransisco,
followed by cabaret style with the renowned Syrian-born
dancer, Princess Madiha.
In 2002 she moved to Houston and joined the Sirrom School of
Dance where she continued her studies in Egyptian dance
under Thalia and Imari. In recent months, Dania was
introduced to the beautiful genres of tribal and tribal
fusion by her current instructor Silvia Salamanca.
Over
the years, Dania has attended seminars with world-renowned
performers such as Dahlena, Sahra Saida, Angelika Nemeth,
Momo Kadous, Hadia, Nourhan Sharif and Ansuya.
For the
past four years she has enjoyed teaching and performing at
numerous venues throughout Houston. She holds a strong
passion for bellydance and admires that this artform
transcends all boundaries by being a true representation of
unity amongst women. It is a great honor for her to join her
new dance sisters in this creative endeavor!
